PRETORIUS KEEPS THE LIONS IN THE DRIVING SEAT

DWAINE PRETORIUS scored a brisk half-century and then picked up a couple of wickets to put the bizhub Highveld Lions in a strong position after the second day of their Sunfoil Series clash with the Nashua Cape Cobras at Newlands. Pretorius’ 53 drove the Lions to a first-innings total of 413 as the visitors enjoyed a healthy wag of the tail, before the all-rounder dismissed Richard Levi and Yaseen Vallie to reduce the Cobras to 76 for four. An unbroken stand of 138 between Justin Ontong and Dane Vilas then salvaged something from an otherwise disappointing day for the Cobras, who ended the day on 214 for four – still trailing the Lions by 199 runs.
