The Chelsea team has played a vital role in raising over £200,000 to help vulnerable groups and fund sporting projects since the launch of the partnership last season. To celebrate the game a host of players including Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Petr Cech as well as manager Carlo Ancelotti have recorded a special appeal to encourage supporters to make a donation of £5 to the charity this weekend.
One in three young people in London live below the poverty line and Help a Capital Child provides support and opportunities to these disadvantaged children and young people across the capital by funding local grass-roots groups.
Ancelotti welcomed the campaign: ‘It’s terrible that many young kids right here in London don’t get the opportunities many of us take for granted. We’re asking our fans and all Londoners to make a difference and make a donation of £5 to Help a Capital Child.
‘It’s really easy to donate, just pick up your mobile phone text ‘CHELSEA’ and send it to 70100. It doesn’t matter where you are, at a football match, at home in front of the TV – you can Help a London Child today.’
By texting ‘CHELSEA’ to 70100, supporters can make a one-off donation of £5 to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children in London. At least £4.45 goes to straight to Help a Capital Child. Operator charges may apply. For more information visit helpacapitalchild.com
