Welcome To Ithuba Media Day

Informing The Public About The Plans And Actions of South Africa’s Preferred Lottery Operator

#IthubaMediaDay was a great opportunity for the people of Ithuba – the organisation behind the revitalisation of the National Lottery – to meet with and answer the questions of the South African media, as well as to inform the public of our activities since having taken over Lottery operations. As an organisation focused on serving the community, Ithuba understands that transparency is paramount. And so, the company hosted this media day in order to meet with members of the media and get in touch with the community – elaborating on new and upcoming games, the way that draws are handled, and myriad other questions surrounding the behind-the-scenes operation of the South African National Lottery.

The organisation’s direct stakeholders and partners are already kept regularly apprised of its operations, but the public at large – whose trust, the company values and depends upon above all – often remain largely in the dark about exactly how Ithuba engages in charity and socioeconomic development efforts.

As the preferred Lottery operator for the past four years (having taken over operations on 1 June, 2015), Ithuba has executed a number of sweeping changes to the way it operates– from establishing new games, new internal systems, and new partnerships – and seen phenomenal results come from these efforts, breaking numerous records set throughout South African Lotto history.

We want the public to know what those changes look like, why they were actioned, and what changes the future holds. And, on #IthubaMediaDay, those and others, were exactly the issues we shone a light on – proving our dedication to transparency and, by extension, to the thousands upon thousands of people who play the Lotto games with which we serve the community.
